Chevrolet Adds Theft Alarm Notifications

Chevrolet today announced Theft Alarm Notification, an enhancement to the existing Stolen Vehicle Assistance service allowing OnStar subscribers to receive a real-time alert when the vehicle’s alarm sounds. The service will be available to eligible subscribers later this summer.

The Theft Alarm Notification feature is another enhancement to OnStar’s existing security features, which include Remote Ignition Block and Stolen Vehicle Slowdown. With Theft Alarm Notification, OnStar subscribers can opt in to receive an alert through text, email or phone if a theft attempt triggers their vehicle’s alarm system and the alarm sounds.

“Prompt response and quick awareness of theft situations give customers a greater chance to recover stolen property,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing. “By leveraging the connection that OnStar provides, Chevrolet owners can remain in contact with their vehicle, even when it is out of sight.”

If a properly equipped Chevrolet is stolen, OnStar advisors will work with local authorities and use GPS technology to pinpoint the vehicle’s location. In certain models, if the conditions are safe, advisors can send a signal to slow down the vehicle, aiding police officers in its recovery and preventing a potential high-speed chase.

Theft Alarm Notification leverages the features of the Theft Protection Package available on Chevrolet’s full-size Tahoe and Suburban LT and LTZ SUVs, which feature glass breakage sensors, interior motion sensors and an inclination/tilt sensor. Each sound an alarm if the vehicle is lifted off the ground, a break-in is attempted, or if motion is detected within the vehicle when the alarm is armed.

The Theft Alarm Notification feature is included within OnStar’s Stolen Vehicle Assistance service and is available to subscribers with the Security or Guidance package and a compatible vehicle. Most 2014 model year and newer Chevrolet vehicles are equipped to offer Theft Alarm Notification. Subscribers can confirm if their vehicle is compatible here or by speaking with an OnStar advisor.

Advanced Tech Tailors 2016 Camaro Driving Experience

New technologies in the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will enable drivers to tailor the car to the moment, whether it's heading to work, touring the Pacific Coast Highway or lapping a road course.

"We wanted to build on the flexibility of the current Camaro ZL1, which is great for grand touring, commuting, the drag strip and track days," said Aaron Link, Camaro lead development engineer. "The new Camaro will be even more adaptable, with up to eight vehicle attributes adjusted to fit a driver's preference."

As a result, the all-new Camaro will set the technological benchmark for the segment.

Most of the features can be changed via the new Drive Mode Selector, which includes Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport and - on SS models - Track settings. Calibrations for throttle progression, steering, stability control and more are optimized for each setting.

For the first time the Camaro SS will be available with Magnetic Ride Control, previously available only on the Camaro ZL1. The active damping system offers three preset programs - Tour, Sport and Track - that adjust the ride and handling balance. From there, it reads road and driver inputs at 1,000 times per second, and automatically adjusts the dampers for optimal performance.

Additionally, there is an enhanced dual-mode exhaust system. New electronically controlled valves can bypass the mufflers under spirited acceleration, delivering improved performance and greater sound levels. It also offers personalization options, from a "stealth" mode to a more aggressive "track" mode.

Chevrolet will introduce the all-new, 2016 Camaro on Saturday, May 16, during a special public event at Detroit's Belle Isle Park.

No.1 Chevy COPO Camaro Sale to Benefit Wounded Veterans

Chevrolet is selling the first 2015 COPO Camaro race car to raise money for Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans, which helps wounded veterans participate in marathons and share their success within a supportive community including their families.
The hand-built car carries serial number 2015COPO001. It will be sold on Saturday, April 18, at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach auction, with 100 percent of the winning bid going to Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans, a non-profit organization that helps disabled athletes, including veterans, gain access to races, equipment, and training dedicated to improve their physical abilities.
“This sale gives the highest bidder the opportunity to buy the first of only 69 factory-assembled 2015 COPO Camaro race cars, the final year of the fifth-generation Camaro,” said Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. “Chevrolet is excited to offer this milestone Camaro to help a very worthy organization.”
Chevrolet introduced 2015 COPO Camaro No. 001 last fall at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas, and it has been featured in Chevrolet Performance advertising and other marketing initiatives. Its distinctive look includes an Abalone White exterior with matte gray and orange accents, and bold “15” graphics. Power comes from a 350-cubic-inch LSX-based racing engine topped with a Whipple 2.9L supercharger, which is NHRA-rated at 555 horsepower. The engine is backed by a three-speed automatic racing transmission – a powertrain combination good for reaching a quarter mile in the mid-eight seconds.
Each COPO Camaro is built by hand starting with production hardware, including the same body in white used for production models. They’re designed to dominate NHRA Stock Eliminator drag racing. The COPO Camaro takes its name and production quota from Central Office Production Order, a process used in the 1960s for fleet managers to order unusual combinations of options.
The COPO Camaro race car is fitted with an NHRA-approved roll cage and other safety equipment, along with racing chassis and suspension components – including a unique solid rear axle system in place of a regular-production Camaro’s independent rear axle.
COPO serial number 001, lot number 3003, will go across the block at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Saturday, April 19, 2015. Watch live coverage on Velocity Channel.

Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation Donation

From a modest beginning in 1962, the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF) has developed into a nationwide non-profit offering financial support worth nearly $90,000,000 to over 33,000 young men and women as they pursue education in their chosen fields.

MCSF provides assistance to students in every state of the union, including 49 here in Colorado for the current school year, with an expectation of that number increasing next year to at least 54 students.

We are extremely honored to support this worthwhile foundation. Those who serve our country and their children deserve our unwavering support. That is why we have committed $5,000 each year for the next 4 years. The children of our brave service men and women deserve all of our support for the incredible sacrifices their families make everyday.

Many of the applicants are the first in their families to attend college, and it is important to them and their families that they not become an additional burden to their families when they continue their education. It is no exaggeration to say that these people who have faced danger and made sacrifices for our country deserve our support as they continue to contribute to the vitality of our country through the contributions of their children.

To qualify, a student must be the child of a Marine or Navy Corpsman who served with Marines and who served for over 90 days on active duty and received a Good Conduct discharge. The student must maintain a 2.0 GPA, and there must be demonstrated financial need. To learn more, please visit https://www.mcsf.org/
