2019 Corvette ZR1: Return of the King

2019 Corvette ZR1: Return of the King
The fastest, most powerful production Corvette ever retakes its supercar crown

DUBAI — The King is returning, stronger than ever.

Chevrolet today introduced the 2019 Corvette ZR1, a supercar that pushes Corvette’s performance legacy with the highest power, greatest track performance and most advanced technology in its production history.

“I’ve never driven a Corvette like this before, and nobody else has either, because there’s never been one like this before,” said Mark Reuss, executive vice president, Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain. “Its unprecedented performance puts all other global supercars on notice that the ZR1 is back.”

The Corvette ZR1’s exclusive LT5 supercharged engine, which is rated at an SAE-certified 755 horsepower (563 kW) and 715 lb-ft of torque (969 Nm), is establishing a new benchmark in performance. Further, the ZR1 elevates Corvette’s track capability with two wind tunnel-honed aerodynamics packages, including an available High Wing that provides an estimated 950 pounds of downforce.

Most powerful ever
The ZR1’s LT5 6.2L V-8 engine advances Corvette’s supercharging legacy, which began with the 2009 sixth-generation ZR1 and continued with the 2015 seventh-generation Z06. The LT5 delivers the highest output ever for a Chevrolet production vehicle, thanks in part to a new, more-efficient intercooled supercharger system that offers 52 percent more displacement than the Z06’s LT4 supercharger. GM’s first dual-fuel-injection system, which employs primary direct injection and supplemental port injection, helps the LT5 achieve its record output. Seven-speed manual and eight-speed paddle-shift automatic transmissions are available with the LT5. It’s the first time an automatic transmission has been offered in a ZR1.

Fastest ever
The 2019 Corvette ZR1’s aggressive appearance is driven by function, contributing to its distinction as the fastest production Corvette to date. An all-new front fascia is designed to channel air for propulsion-system and drivetrain cooling, with four new radiators bringing the heat-exchanger total to 13. A special carbon-fiber “halo” hood is open in the middle to clear the LT5 engine’s supercharger/intercooler assembly. Additional features, including aero packages with stanchion-mounted wings, help push the ZR1 harder onto the track for more confident handling and faster lap times. Top speed of the ZR1 is over 210 mph.“As the highest-performing Corvette ever, the ZR1’s design supports its capability in every way,” said Kirk Bennion, Exterior Design manager. “The new wings, for example, help generate more downforce without adding drag, enhancing road holding and top speed.”

The ZR1 will offer two aero packages: a standard rear Low Wing, which delivers the highest top speed and helps generate up to 70 percent more downforce than the Z06’s base aero package, and an available two-way-adjustable High Wing that offers maximum downforce on the track for the quickest lap times — about 60 percent more downforce than the Z06 with the available Z07 Performance Package. All models also feature a Chevrolet-first, downforce-enhancing front underwing.

The adjustable High Wing is part of the new ZTK Performance Package, which also includes a front splitter with carbon-fiber end caps, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer-only tires, and specific chassis and Magnetic Ride Control tuning for greater cornering grip. Both of the ZR1’s wings are tied into the chassis, like the Corvette Racing C7.R racecar, for strength and stability.

Sebring Orange Design Package
The Corvette ZR1 introduced today also debuted a dynamic, available Sebring Orange Design Package. Centered on its Sebring Orange Tintcoat exterior color, the package also includes orange brake calipers, orange rocker and splitter accent stripes, orange seat belts, orange interior stitching and unique, bronze aluminum interior trim.

The new design package complements the Corvette ZR1’s tradition of offering maximum performance with refinement and design distinction. The driver-focused, well-appointed cockpit includes standard leather-trimmed seats, with sueded microfiber inserts offered. Heated and vented Napa leather-trimmed seating is also available, as well as a carbon fiber-rimmed steering wheel, competition sport seats, Performance Data Recorder, Bose premium audio system and more.
The 2019 Corvette ZR1 goes on sale next spring, poised to take on the world’s best.

It’s good to be the King.

7 Tips for Purchasing a Vehicle

Buying a car or truck can cause a lot of stress and anxiety. Past experiences may have you on high alert when buying your next vehicle. At John Elway Chevrolet we hope to change your perception of buying a car and make it an enjoyable experience for you. After all, you are buying a new car and that is pretty exciting.

Aside from our upfront discounted prices and commission free sales professionals, we want to provide you with a 7 tips for purchasing your next vehicle.

There are typically 2 reasons why consumers have problems when buying a vehicle:

  1. Poor communication between the dealers and customers
  2. A misunderstanding of the consumer's obligations (down payment, warranty coverage, etc)
It is important to think through your purchase decision and be comfortable with the terms and conditions. These tips will help prepare you for your purchase.

  1. Determine the type of vehicle you want, need, and is within your budget. Often times consumers feel mislead or tricked because they choose a vehicle outside their budget. Find a monthly payment that works for you and work backwards to find a vehicle price range. Use our payment calculator for help.
  2. Get all the facts you need to make a good decision. Consider the cost of insurance, maintenance expense, financing, etc. Reach out to your insurance company for an estimate, and do some research of cost of ownership for the vehicle you are interested in.
  3. Decide how you want to pay for the vehicle. Look at purchasing versus leasing. Leasing payments tend to be lower and the risk to the consumer tends to be lower because the vehicles residual value is predetermined at the time of sale. What are you willing to put down as a down payment? Down payment and the term (# of months) of your deal have the most effect on the monthly payment whereas, the interest rate has very little influence on your monthly payment.
  4. Federal law requires that new cars and trucks display a label showing the MSRP. Some dealerships will add their fees and add-ons to the MSRP and wait for you to negotiate the price back down. At John Elway Chevrolet, we discount our vehicles upfront. Every new car is marked with the MSRP and our Elway Discount.
  5. If you are trading in your vehicle you can use several "Trade-In" programs that will give you what we call a "book" value for your vehicle. The important thing to understand is that these are still estimations and are only as accurate as the information you provide. Be realistic as to the condition of the vehicle to avoid any disappointment.
  6. Get everything in writing. If the dealership does not want to provide you with copies of your contract you need to be wary. Likewise, make sure anything promised after delivery, such as repairs and accessories, are in writing.
  7. All of our new vehicles are covered by the manufacturer's warranty. It is important that you save a copy of that warranty and understand that you are responsible for the maintenance to keep the coverage in effect. If you ever question if making a modification may void your manufacturer warranty, please give our service department a call and they can help guide you.
If you ever have questions you may contact any of our sales consultants. As non-commissioned sales representatives, their only goal is to answer your questions and give you a world class car buying experience. We hope these tips help relieve some of the stress and anxiety of buying a car. When you are in the market we hope you visit John Elway Chevrolet in Englewood, CO.

Winterize Your Chevy In 7 Steps

Is you vehicle ready to battle the elements this winter? Before you find yourself driving through a snow storm of this season, you will want to make sure your vehicle is ready to keep you safe. Follow these tips before venturing out into the winter wonderland. At John Elway Chevrolet On South Broadway we have many service specials that will help you with making sure your vehicle will be 100% for what the winter has to offer. Just follow this link and see what offers we have, Service Specials. Come to John Elway Chevrolet and be ready for the winter.
  • Get a Tune-Up. Have your mechanic check your hoses, belts and anti-freeze. A weakened hose or belt can break and leave you stranded, or a weak solution of anti-freeze can ice up and damage your cooling system.
  • Check Your BatteryMake sure your car’s battery connection is clean, tight and corrosion-free. The battery should be securely mounted. If the battery is three years old or more, have it tested and replace it if necessary.
  • Check Your Heater and Defroster. If your heater isn’t working, you’ll probably know. But what about front and rear defrosters? Before you’re faced with a frosty windshield, turn your front and rear defrosters on and off to make sure they’re working.
  • Give Yourself a Brake. If you have the slightest concern that something’s amiss with your brakes, get them inspected immediately. If you have anti-lock brakes, you should avoid pumping the brakes if you begin to slide.
  • New Wiper Blades and Washer Fluid. Even if your windshield wiper blades are in good condition, you might want to upgrade to a rubber coated snow blade that can handle the extra weight of wet snow. They’re not expensive, and could make your winter driving a lot safer in the long run. Slush and mud splashed on a windshield can spell danger for a winter driver. Make sure your washer fluid reservoir is sufficiently full, and keep a spare jug in the trunk.
  • Take a Look at Your TiresYour tires need to have adequate tread with “grip” to propel you through the snow. Take advantage of our 30 day price match guarantee and get the right tires for your vehicle installed by factory trained technicians.
  • Fill Her Up! One of the best driving tips for winter is to keep your tank more than half full at all times. It will help you avoid freezing in your fuel lines, and will keep you safer in winter weather situations.
If for any reason you are in need of assistance with any one of these safety precautions please give us a call and we will be happy to help you in anyway we can. Please give us a call at (720) 279-1799
